I grew up in a northern Chinese city and have witnessed dramatic changes. China is always changing, due to its unique institutional, historical, and cultural contexts, studies of China are of great value to the knowledge in many social sciences and are important to the global understanding of China.

My interests focus on the rapid changes in vast local areas of current China, their tourism and leisure, transformed landscape, heritage sites, and development issues.

I also focus on the transition of counties - small cities made up of townships and rural areas in China.
