ABOUT ME
I am a geographer and tourism scholar by training. I received a PhD in Geography and Resource Management and a Master's degree in Social Science at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). I also worked as a visiting scholar at the Anthropology Department at the University of California, Berkeley and a Postdoctoral Fellow at CUHK.

My study focuses on the relationships between people, tourism, development, and sustainability. My research interests encompass development theories, sustainability, sustainable tourism, tourism impacts, cultural and ethnic tourism, protected area tourism and conservation, sustainable livelihoods, rural revitalization, landscape ecology, and tourism and development policies in China. My empirical focus is mainly on Asia, especially mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, and the Greater Bay Area.
Currently, I am the CEO of ILRC and Chair scientist at DBLL. My practice area concentrates on Data-Based Tourism and Landscape Planning™ and policy consulting related to sustainability and rural development, especially on transferring the latest technologies, such as AI, into governments and firms' planning and decision-making processes. I am also a part-time lecturer for the Master of Social Science in Sustainable Tourism at CUHK.
